Bring this Asian oven-baked salmon to the table and dazzle your family with your cooking skills. Everyone will be hooked by this salmon – thanks to ginger and soy sauce. Asian Oven Salmon is the fav recipe of Pihla who cooks on Carrot Kitchen’s videos.

Pihla’s Asian Oven Salmon

    Pihla’s Asian Oven Salmon

  • 600 g boneless salmon fillet
  • 1 lemon
  • 1–2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 cm piece of ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 4 grinds of black pepper
  • cooked or mashed potatoes
  • coriander leaves
  1. Time to get going!

First wash your hands and make sure you have all ingredients at hand. Heat up the oven to 200°C.

  2. Prep the salmon

Place the salmon on the chopping board, skin-side down, and wipe its surface with kitchen paper. Using a sharp knife, make quite deep cross cuts on the surface of the fish – to spice it up better. Place the fish in an oven casserole and wash your hands.

  3. Seasoning is the key

Take another chopping board and cut a few slices of the lemon, to garnish. Squeeze lemon juice all over the salmon. Open the cross cuts to make sure the lemon juice gets in the flesh. Sprinkle with soy sauce. Peel the ginger and chop it. Peel and chop the garlic as well. Rub spices on and inside the salmon and grind with pepper.

  4. In the oven

Place the casserole on the middle rack of the oven and cook for about 20 minutes – depending on how thick your fish is. Meanwhile, you’ve got enough time to clean the kitchen.

  5. Time to enjoy!

Cook potatoes or make mashed potatoes. Garnish the salmon with lemon wedges (and coriander if you feel like) and serve with potatoes.

"I’d love to see the kitchen of our President"

Tell us about your fav recipe? I like this oven-baked salmon because it’s so tasty and quick & easy to make, and salmon is the fish I love most. When my parents don’t have time to cook, I often make this salmon – mostly on weekends.

Which Carrot Kitchen’s videos do you cook on? Have a look at Unicorns’ Porridge and Power Smoothie! Both are great snacks for sporty youngsters, and fun to make.

Did you enjoy shooting these videos? It was very interesting! Now I know why videos are as they are. What kind of hobbies do you have? At the moment, ballet and basketball.

Where did you learn to cook? My mom showed me the basic things. I’ve also learnt new things in cooking lessons at school.

Whose kitchen you’d love to see? Would be great to peek in our President’s kitchen or in the kitchen of a famous chef. Probably very different from normal kitchens.

Bubbles or without? Normally I prefer still, but at parties and over great meals – definitely bubbles.

Who do you love to cook with? With my sister. She’s so eager to cook! And we’re often at home at the same time.
