Pesto pasta, yum yum! On Carrot Kitchen’s videos, Ilona makes this yummy and filling salad of her favourite things – pesto, pasta and tuna fish. You can make yourself a tasty and filling lunch or a snack with this simple recipe.

Ilona’s Tuna & Pesto Pasta Salad

  • 250 g fusilli pasta
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ to 1 can of green pesto
  • 1 can of tuna chunks in oil
  • 1 bag of iceberg lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 red pepper
  • ½ cucumber
  • small red onion
  • parmesan shavings
  1. Time to get going!

Wash your hands and bring a saucepan of water to boil. Add the pasta and salt. Cook it following the instructions on the package, for about 8 minutes.

  2. Chop the veggies

While the pasta cooks, rinse and chop the vegetables. Rip the salad with your hands and put it in a bowl with tomato, red pepper and cucumber chunks. Chop the onion finely and add it to the bowl.

  3. Pesto & pasta

Drain the pasta and rinse with cold water. Put it back in the saucepan and mix in the pesto. Drain the tuna and mix it with the pasta.

  4. Time to enjoy!

That’s it! If you don’t eat all at once, this pasta salad tastes good even when cold.

Tell us about your fav recipe, this tuna & pesto pasta salad? It’s all about my favourite things: pasta, pesto, tuna and salad leaves, of course.

How many Carrot Kitchen vids do you cook on? On many, such as Easy-peasy Flatbreads, Cool Cucumber Salad, Potato & Apple Salad, and Dip and Veggies. I loved making them all: great new flavours!

How did you learn to perform like that? Dunno, maybe my energy comes from the American spirit? I went to an American school. Or maybe I was just born like this?

Your tips for the kids who feel too nervous? Take it easy, relax your breath, think about good things… and ta-daa, it will take off!

Who taught you to cook? My mum.

Whose kitchen you’d love to visit? Ariana Grande’s!

Your fav colour in food? Yellow because I love cheese and pasta.

If you were asked to create a candy, what kinda candy would it be? I’d like to make a globe-shaped candy that shows all the countries in the world.

Who’s your best cooking buddy? I must say it’s Enni, my twin sister, but only when she’s not getting on my nerves.
